Sliding Door Systems

Sliding doors are the standard answer wherever a large opening needs to connect interior living space to a terrace, balcony, patio, or roof deck without a swing door eating into the floor plan.

Lift-and-Slide and Standard Sliding

Standard sliding doors run on rollers within a track and suit moderate panel sizes and everyday residential use.

Lift-and-slide systems work differently. Turning the handle lifts the entire sash off its seals and onto the rollers, so a very heavy panel glides with one hand; releasing the handle drops the sash back down onto a continuous gasket. The result is a far better air and water seal than a conventional slider can achieve, and it allows much larger and heavier panels. On oceanfront, high-rise, and exposed sites, lift-and-slide is usually the correct specification.

Configurations

We supply two-panel, three-panel, and four-panel arrangements, with fixed and operable combinations to suit the opening. Pocket configurations slide the panels fully into a wall cavity so the opening reads completely clear when open. Corner units meet at an unsupported glazed corner, which needs structural coordination but produces a dramatic result.

Panel weight drives the hardware selection and the structural opening, so we confirm both before ordering rather than after.

Thermal and Acoustic Performance

Aluminium systems are thermally broken. Glazing runs double or triple with low-E coatings, warm-edge spacers, and argon fill, and laminated or acoustic makeups are available where the site demands them. Because sliding doors present a large glazed area, the glazing specification matters more here than almost anywhere else in the envelope.

Thresholds can be specified flush for level access and barrier-free interiors, or raised where water exposure requires a higher upstand. We will advise which is appropriate for the exposure rather than defaulting to whichever is easier to install.

Field measurement, shop drawings, factory ordering, delivery, and installation by our own crews, with proper flashing, air sealing, and interior finish coordination. Sliding doors are unforgiving of an out-of-level opening, so we survey and correct before setting the frame.
