Stone Wool Insulation for New Jersey and New York

Komar Stroy supplies and installs stone wool insulation across New Jersey, New York City, and Connecticut. Stone wool is spun from molten basalt into a dense fibrous mat, and it does three jobs at once that most insulation materials only do one of: thermal performance, fire resistance, and acoustic absorption.

Fire Performance

Stone wool is non-combustible and holds its structure at temperatures well beyond the point where foam insulations melt or burn. That is why it is specified in rainscreen cavities, curtain wall spandrel and safing conditions, and any assembly on a mid- or high-rise building in New York City and northern New Jersey where the code drives the material selection.

In cavity applications it also serves as a fire stop between floors, maintaining compartmentation at the slab edge where the facade meets the structure.

Thermal Performance

Stone wool delivers consistent thermal resistance that does not degrade over time, unlike some foam products whose blowing agents diffuse out and whose R-value declines with age. It is dimensionally stable, so it does not shrink away from framing and open up thermal bridges after a few seasons.

It is also vapour open, allowing assemblies to dry rather than trapping moisture inside the wall.

Acoustic Performance

The open fibrous structure absorbs sound rather than reflecting it, which makes stone wool effective in party walls, floor assemblies, mechanical rooms, and any partition where sound transmission between spaces matters. On urban sites it also contributes meaningfully to reducing exterior noise ingress alongside acoustic glazing.

Rainscreen and ventilated facade cavities behind ACM and other cladding, curtain wall spandrel and perimeter fire safing, exterior wall cavities and continuous exterior insulation, interior partitions and floor assemblies, and mechanical and service areas.

What We Handle

Supply, coordination with the facade and framing packages, and installation by our own crews. Insulation only performs if it is installed continuously and without gaps or compression, so we detail the interfaces at penetrations, fixings, and slab edges rather than leaving them to be filled later.
